  1. Our civil marriage laws provide important legal protections and benefits to couples and their children (should they choose to have or adopt). It is extremely harmful to gay and lesbian couples to exclude them from these legal rights. It puts them and their families at a disadvantage.

  2. The ideas behind both are God given but the institutions themselves are very much imperfectly man made. People seem to be out of touch with the fact that God knows our hearts and both marriage and our relationship with God both exist in our hearts.
